About This Sacred Artwork

The Immaculate Heart of Mary is presented with tender solemnity, her blue mantle embroidered in gold as she draws the viewer toward the radiant heart upon her breast. Encircled by roses, aflame with charity, and pierced by a sword, the heart reflects both Mary’s purity and her maternal sorrow joined to the saving work of Christ. Behind her, candlelight glows against jewel-toned stained glass, while lilies, roses, and gilded Art Nouveau lines frame the scene with devotional richness. The artwork invites quiet contemplation of Mary’s interior life: faithful, humble, sorrowing, and wholly given to God.

Sacred Tradition

History & Devotion

Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary honors the interior life of the Blessed Virgin Mary: her purity, obedience, maternal love, and participation in the sorrows of her Son. The image of Mary’s heart is often shown radiant with love, encircled by flowers, aflame with charity, and pierced by a sword in remembrance of Simeon’s prophecy that a sword would pierce her soul. While love for Mary’s heart has deep roots in Catholic spirituality, the devotion became especially widespread in the modern era through Marian prayer, consecration, and the Church’s liturgical remembrance. It remains closely linked to contemplation of Mary’s perfect response to God and her maternal care for the faithful.

For Prayer

Prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pure and faithful heart of our Mother, draw my heart closer to Jesus. Teach me to receive God’s will with humility, to love with patience, and to stand near the Cross with hope. May your maternal care guide my prayer, guard my family, and lead me always to your Son. Amen.
