About This Sacred Artwork

The Transfiguration of Our Lord presents Christ at the center of a radiant mountain vision, His white garments flooded with heavenly light. Moses stands nearby holding the tablets of the Law, while Elijah looks on in reverent witness. At Christ’s feet, the apostles kneel, bow, and shield themselves before a glory beyond ordinary sight. The surrounding clouds and golden rays draw the eye upward, echoing the Gospel moment when Jesus reveals the splendor of His divinity before the Passion. This image invites contemplation of Christ as fulfillment, Lord, and beloved Son, whose light strengthens faith for the road ahead.

Feast Day

August 6, Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord

Sacred Tradition

History & Devotion

The Transfiguration is recounted in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up the mountain, where His face shines and His garments become dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appear with Him, bearing witness to the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. The Father’s voice declares Jesus as His beloved Son, calling the disciples to listen to Him. In Catholic devotion, this mystery reveals Christ’s divine glory while also preparing the apostles for the scandal of the Cross. Celebrated liturgically on August 6, the feast turns the heart toward hope, reminding the faithful that the light of Christ is stronger than suffering and death.

For Prayer

Prayer Before the Transfigured Lord

Lord Jesus Christ, radiant in glory upon the holy mountain, strengthen my faith when the path is difficult. Let Your light purify my heart, guide my prayer, and teach me to listen to Your voice. With Peter, James, and John, may I adore You as the beloved Son and follow You with courage to the Cross and Resurrection. Amen.
