About This Sacred Artwork

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is presented with solemn tenderness and regal light. Christ gazes outward with calm compassion, one hand raised in blessing while the other points to His Heart, encircled with thorns, marked by the Cross, and burning with divine love. Golden rays pour from His chest into a cloud-filled setting framed by ornate sacred ornamentation. The visible inscription, “Sacred Heart of Jesus Have Mercy on Us,” gives the image the character of both icon and prayer. This artwork invites contemplation of the mercy of Christ, whose wounded Heart remains open to sinners, the suffering, and all who seek refuge in His love.

Sacred Tradition

History & Devotion

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is rooted in the Church’s contemplation of Christ’s pierced side, His Passion, and the immeasurable love revealed in the Incarnation and the Cross. The devotion grew through centuries of prayer, especially in Eucharistic and reparative spirituality. In the seventeenth century, Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque helped spread renewed devotion to the Sacred Heart from Paray-le-Monial, calling the faithful to respond to Christ’s love with trust, repentance, and adoration. The feast was extended to the universal Church by Pope Pius IX in 1856. Today the Sacred Heart remains one of the Church’s most beloved Christological devotions, honoring the merciful love of Jesus for the whole world.

For Prayer

Prayer to the Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us, draw my heart close to Yours. Teach me to trust in Your mercy, to repent with sincerity, and to love with patience and humility. In every sorrow, temptation, and need, let me find refuge in Your wounded Heart. Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Yours. Amen.
