About This Sacred Artwork

The newborn Christ Child lies peacefully in the manger, wrapped in soft ivory cloth and surrounded by straw and worn wood. A fine golden halo encircles His sleeping face, drawing the eye toward the sacred mystery hidden in such tenderness: the eternal Son of God entering the world in poverty and humility. The dark, quiet stable heightens the gentle radiance around the Infant Jesus, inviting contemplation of the Incarnation not as distance or grandeur, but as nearness. In this still Nativity scene, divine love is shown as a Child at rest, entrusted to the silence of Bethlehem.

Sacred Tradition

History & Devotion

The Nativity of the Lord is celebrated by the Church on December 25, honoring the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. The Gospel of Luke tells of Mary giving birth to her firstborn Son, wrapping Him in swaddling clothes, and laying Him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn. In Catholic devotion, the manger has become a place of wonder, humility, and adoration, where the faithful contemplate the mystery of the Incarnation. The tradition of representing the Nativity in crèches was especially popularized by Saint Francis of Assisi in the thirteenth century, helping Christians prayerfully enter the poverty and tenderness of Christ’s birth.

For Prayer

Prayer before the Infant Jesus

Infant Jesus, born for us in humility and love, draw my heart close to the manger. Teach me to receive Your peace, to trust Your nearness, and to make room for You in my life. May the quiet of Bethlehem deepen my faith and lead me to adore You with gratitude and joy. Amen.
