Saint Michael the Archangel is named in Scripture as a heavenly prince and defender of God’s people. In Daniel he appears as protector, in the Letter of Jude he contends against evil, and in Revelation he leads the heavenly hosts against the dragon. Catholic devotion has long invoked Saint Michael in times of temptation, danger, and spiritual conflict, asking his intercession for courage and protection. The Church honors him with Saints Gabriel and Raphael on September 29, a feast that turns the heart toward the unseen help of God’s angels.
