About This Sacred Artwork

Saint Mary Magdalene is shown at the threshold of Easter joy, kneeling beside the open tomb as the risen Jesus appears before her in luminous white. Her hand rests near her heart, her face lifted in astonishment and devotion. Around her, the burial cloth, lilies, garden path, and alabaster jar draw the eye into the sacred stillness of the Resurrection morning. The scene recalls the Gospel moment when grief is met by the living Lord, and faithful love becomes a witness to hope. Bathed in golden light, this work invites contemplation of mercy, recognition, and the joy that begins at the empty tomb.

Sacred Tradition

History & Devotion

Devotion to Saint Mary Magdalene is rooted in the Gospel witness to her faithful love for Christ. She appears among the women who followed Jesus, stood near the Cross, came to the tomb after His burial, and encountered Him risen from the dead. In the Gospel of John, her meeting with the risen Lord in the garden becomes one of the most tender moments of Easter faith. The Church honors her as a privileged witness to the Resurrection and often calls her the “Apostle to the Apostles” because she was sent to announce the news of the risen Christ to them. Her feast is celebrated on July 22.

A Life of Faith

The Saint’s Story

Saint Mary Magdalene was a disciple of Jesus who experienced His mercy and followed Him with steadfast love. The Gospels tell that Jesus delivered her from seven demons, and she became one of the women who accompanied Him and supported His ministry. She remained near Him in His Passion, watched where He was buried, and came to the tomb in sorrow. There, in the garden, she encountered the risen Christ and was entrusted with the joyful message of His Resurrection. Her life points to the power of grace, the courage of faithful love, and the hope given to every heart that seeks the Lord.

For Prayer

Prayer with Saint Mary Magdalene

Saint Mary Magdalene, faithful witness of the risen Lord, pray for us. Teach us to seek Christ with love, to remain near Him in sorrow, and to recognize His voice in hope. May our hearts be converted by His mercy, strengthened by His Resurrection, and made ready to announce His life with humility and joy. Amen.
