The Saint’s Story

Saint Joan of Arc was born in Domrémy, France, in the early fifteenth century. As a young peasant girl, she believed God was calling her to aid France during a time of war and division. With extraordinary resolve, she presented herself to the French court and helped lead the way to the coronation of Charles VII at Reims. Captured by enemies and subjected to trial, Joan remained steadfast in her faith. She was executed in 1431 at about nineteen years old. Later vindicated and eventually canonized, Saint Joan is remembered not merely for military courage, but for purity of heart, perseverance, and trust in God’s will.
