About This Sacred Artwork

In this reverent meditation on the Precious Blood, Jesus appears crowned with thorns, clothed in a white garment and crimson mantle. With one hand He reveals the wound in His side, while His blood descends in a delicate stream into a radiant golden chalice. Wheat and grapes appear at the side, quietly recalling the Eucharistic gifts, while a distant cross rests in the glowing background. The composition joins the sorrow of the Passion to the mercy of the altar, inviting contemplation of the Blood poured out for the life of the world. Its golden light gathers the scene into a prayerful stillness before the mystery of redemption.

Sacred Tradition

History & Devotion

Devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus flows from the Church’s contemplation of Christ’s Passion and the mystery of the Eucharist. Scripture speaks of redemption through the Blood of Christ, and the liturgy continually returns the faithful to the sacrifice of Calvary made present sacramentally at the altar. In Catholic art, the wound in Christ’s side and the chalice often appear together to express the unity of the Passion and the Eucharist. The devotion received particular emphasis in the modern period through prayers, confraternities, and liturgical observance. The month of July has long been associated in Catholic piety with honoring the Most Precious Blood of Jesus.

For Prayer

Prayer to the Precious Blood of Jesus

Lord Jesus Christ, by Your Precious Blood poured out for our salvation, cleanse my heart, strengthen my faith, and draw me nearer to the mystery of Your Eucharistic love. Let the memory of Your wounded side teach me mercy, repentance, and trust, until I rest in the redemption You have won. Amen.
